MTG Hobbit — Launch Week Update
Released August 14, 2026. Standard Showdown events are running now through September 24 at participating stores — foil Wood Elves promo cards for winners while supplies last.
Early singles market notes: Bilbo Baggins and Thorin Oakenshield are holding strong as Commander staples. Gleaming Gold Smaug (serialized, ~500 copies) is commanding significant secondary market prices — check TCGplayer for current rates before targeting it. The One Ring box topper market is settling.
Queen City Anime Con — This Weekend
Queen City Anime Con runs August 14–16 at the Embassy Suites in Concord, NC — same weekend as the Hobbit launch. Game room, TCG trading floor, and voice actor guests including Elsie from Digimon and Baldur’s Gate 3 are featured all weekend.
